The song refers to Borstal - "some seeds and dust, and you got Borstal"- referring to Borstal Prison and its borstal ilk - any manner of a British juvenile gaol. "New Castle Brown" is often mistaken as a reference to Newcastle Brown Ale but actually refers to heroin also known as "Brown" or "Smack". The song, a Steve Marriott composition, bemoans being arrested for possession of small quantities of illegal drugs, including cocaine Durban poison, a potent strain of marijuana and Red Lebanese and Black Nepalese, two types of hashish. The B-side on its US release was "Sweet Peace and Time", while everywhere else the B-side featured "C'mon Everybody" and "Road Runner". However it gained a following on album oriented rock and classic rock radio formats and consequently it remains one of Humble Pie's best known songs. The song received moderate radio airplay at the time but failed to chart. The cookie is used to store the user consent for the cookies in the category "Analytics". Then run MakeMKV on your hard drive dvd folder(but doesnt work in XP for some reason) or disc if youve burned it. These cookies ensure basic functionalities and security features of the website, anonymously. By scanning the disc with MakeMKV before making the ImgBurn image, it enables LibreDrive in the drive's memory, disabling bus encryption, and allowing you to make a protected ISO.Necessary cookies are absolutely essential for the website to function properly. It'll create a bus encrypted image if you don't disable it with LibreDrive which is then completely useless. #Using makemkv command line iso#Which if AnyDVD knew that was the case for a disc that's loaded, it'd be able to utilize that, but, it doesn't and the drive still reports as supporting bus encryption so anything expecting bus encryption to be in place (like AnyDVD because it must remove it to create a protected ISO or PowerDVD) will try to decrypt it and fail because it's not bus encrypted. "How can ImgBurn read a protected ISO then?" Because LibreDrive disables the drive's ability to bus encrypt the data being transferred to the PC. I'm sure this answer will create confusion. So it's unable to rip to protected ISO on such drives. Ripping to ISO, however, allows AnyDVD to deal with any protections that MakeMKV can't.ĪnyDVD doesn't support official drives (or unofficial drives flashed with official firmware). MakeMKV can't remove that in a folder backup. One of the areas that MakeMKV falls short vs AnyDVD is when it comes to screen pass protection. By ripping to protected ISO, mounting that with Virtual CloneDrive allows you to utilize all of AnyDVD's real time goodness. Reading to folder wont' allow you to utilize AnyDVD. That image can then be mounted with Virtual CloneDrive and used with AnyDVD as any physical disc would be. This will be read at the rip lock speeds possible for the official drive firmware and will create a protected ISO image. IMPORTANT NOTE: *DO NOT* eject the disc at this point or this WILL NOT WORK So how does that benefit AnyDVD users given that you'd then be giving up UHD friendly compatibility which AnyDVD relies upon? Try this method:ġ) Open a disc with MakeMKV and scan the disc (get to the list of titlesets for the disc).just opening MakeMKV is NOT sufficient. It won't make them "official" drives in that they would work with AACS 2.x as they lack the requisite hardware, but, they will enable UHD rip lock compatibility with LibreDrive. Yes, it can be flashed to any of the 1959 chipset drives including the ASUS BW-16D1HT. This will only work with an official drive firmware such as the NS60 MK or 1.00 original firmware. There is a use case where AnyDVD users could benefit and since this IS the Redfox forum, I'll post it here for those that are interested. But it requires sacrificing UHD friendly compatibility if you want it to work for UHD, so for AnyDVD users, it's not super useful and relevant. The most important facet of the book is that it is written from a Hindu perspective. Here is my attempt to review the book for the benefit of fellow readers. It’s very rare for a technocrat to write a history book as it requires deep knowledge, intense passion and sustained efforts. The Teutonic Knights have a penchant for heavily armoured cavalry and well-trained spearmen.I recently came across the book on Indian medieval history titled “Swift Horses Sharp swords: Medieval battles which shook India” written by an IIT graduate Amit Agarwal. The Danes lack solid spearmen but their Huscarls pack a punch. The Mongols are hard to tie down into melee combat as their light cavalry has a propensity to evade attacks. But for those players wanting to know the specific factors used to calculate combat results, there is a detailed tooltips toggle in the settings menu.įactions play differently and employ different tactics based around their unit compositions. In-game tooltips offer the player clear, concise information about combat resolution. It still takes into consideration a number of factors such as a general’s command range, unit morale and cohesion, zones of control, flanking, formations and unit ammunition (for archers and crossbowmen). MEDIEVAL BATTLEFIELDS ERROR MANUALThe rule system is deep, but not so complex that you are forever consulting the manual or online forums looking for answers. There’s a lot to like about FoGII:M especially for the player that wants to replicate a tabletop miniatures experience. A local play hotseat mode is also included. It takes care of saving, uploading, and downloading the necessary files to play out a turn and offers players a lobby to organise public/private matches. If you have played another Slitherine title which uses the system, you know what to expect. This facilitates asynchronous gameplay and allows players to easily manage multiple games in client. MEDIEVAL BATTLEFIELDS ERROR HOW TOUnits tended to form battle lines rather than separate from the main army and light cavalry understood how to harass the enemy and fall back.Ĭustom Battles and Epic Battles can be played via multiplayer: using Slitherine’s PBEM system. Archers stood in front of armies and fired volleys until the opposing force closed, then they retreated. Generally speaking however, units behaved logically and didn’t sit around waiting to be mowed down by heavy cavalry. However, the usual caveats apply here, the AI is no substitute for a human opponent. In terms of AI, I personally found the computer opponent competent even at lower levels. These choices differ each battle based on what terrain is available to use to your advantage. Do you form up behind a river, attack an enemy up a hill or hide a unit of crossbowmen in a forest on your flank to counter enemy cavalry. It adds a layer of replayability to the game but also forces the player to be more reactive to the map in conjunction with the battlefield situation. Consequently, things don’t play out the same way each playthrough-even when you replay a historical battle or a campaign mission. With the exception of historical battles, combat takes place on randomly generated battlefields. Ultimately, campaigns are fun in that they give your battles purpose and persistence with the outcome affecting future engagements. Losses are also taken into account at a high level, affecting your recruitment points at the beginning of each battle. They gain experience, elan and eventually can be promoted. In all there are twelve scenarios to choose from which significantly change the way you approach a battle, its objectives and the battlefield rules.īoth campaign modes allow you to have a core group of units which follow you from battle to battle. Rearguard scenarios have the player hold out as long as possible against waves of enemy assaults. Escort missions charge the player to move their baggage train across the map whilst defending it from enemy attacks. The ‘Remove the Head’ scenario grants victory to the first side able to kill the opposing army’s general. These provide the player with differing battlefield objectives and victory conditions beyond two forces marching into each other. The Custom Battles mode also allows the player to select a scenario type. It allows the player to select combatants, individual force sizes and compositions, the size of the map, the number of turns and the style of terrain before facing off on a randomly generated battlefield. On the other end of the spectrum is the Custom Battles mode. Players looking to jump straight into a random battle can hit the ‘Fight Now’ button. The game has a few ways of getting the player onto the digital battlefield. Once the enemy was weakened, the Huns would swarm them at close range and finish the job with spears, sabers and even lassos. In battle, they often ambushed their adversaries in scattered bands, unleashing devastating hails of arrows before riding back to safety. Celtic battle axe full#Hun horse archers were famed for their ability to accurately fire their bows even while at a full gallop. They were also smaller than typical bows, making them easier to wield on horseback. Unlike the Western bow, these steppe weapons were made to curve back on themselves at the ends, which generated added torque and made arrows fly with enough velocity to penetrate armor at 100 yards. Most Hun warriors carried composite bows assembled from wood, sinew, horn and bone. The “Scourge of God” and his Huns shocked Westerners with their maneuverable cavalry and hit-and-run tactics, but they also possessed a formidable new weapon: the recurve bow. In the fifth century A.D., Attila and his Hun steppe marauders invaded Europe from the East and cut a bloody swath across the Roman Empire. After encountering superior Spanish steel, they adapted a Celtiberian short sword into the famed “gladius” of the Roman legions. Celtiberian weapons also proved influential for the Romans. The falcata served the barbarians well during more than 200 years of warfare with Rome, and it was highly prized by the ancient general Hannibal, who equipped Carthaginian troops with it during the Second Punic War. It was even known to cut Roman swords clean in half. The weapon was weighted towards the tip, which allowed it to slash or stab its way through armor with relative ease. One of their most famous weapons was the “falcata,” a curved, two-foot-long steel sword that was single-edged near the hilt and double-edged near the point. These warriors were renowned both for their guerilla fighting ability and their skill as sword-smiths and metalworkers. When the Romans invaded modern day Spain in 218 B.C., they came face to face with a barbarian tribe known as the Celtiberians. While she succeeded in razing three Roman Briton cities, her war charioteers were eventually hemmed in and slaughtered at the Battle of Watling Street.Ĭredit: Falconaumanni via Creative Commons/Wikimedia revolt of the warrior queen Boudica, who united several Celtic tribes against the Romans. “They drive about in all directions and throw their weapons and generally break the ranks of the enemy with the very dread of their horses and the noise of their wheels,” Caesar wrote, “and when they have worked themselves in between the troops of horse, leap from their chariots and engage on foot.” The British chariot later took a starring role in the 60 A.D. Celtic battle axe drivers#In combat, they functioned as a kind of ancient personnel carrier: drivers would drop a lone warrior near the fighting, race to safety and then return to pick the soldier up if he was injured or needed to withdraw. These vehicles were usually two-horse affairs with iron-rimmed wheels and sturdy platforms made of wicker and wood. (Credit: Universal History Archive/UIG via Getty Images)ĭuring his campaigns in Britain in 55 and 54 B.C., Julius Caesar became the first Roman general to encounter the war chariots of the native Celtic tribes. It was particularly popular among the Varangian Guard, a band of Viking mercenaries who served as bodyguards for Byzantine emperors in the 10th and 11th centuries.ĭrawing depicting Boudica on a chariot. “And they are accustomed always to throw these axes at one signal in the first charge and shatter the shields of the enemy and kill the men.” The axe was one of the many barbarian weapons that carried over into the medieval world. “The iron head of this weapon was thick and exceedingly sharp on both sides while wooden handle was very short,” the historian Procopius wrote of the francisca in the sixth century A.D. The Franks, meanwhile, were partial to a lightweight axe known as a “francisca,” which could be used as a hacking weapon or hurled at close range as a projectile. While most tribal warriors carried spears or swords into combat, Germanic soldiers were known to wield heavy battle-axes capable of smashing through shield, armor and helmet in a single blow. Don't give a flying (edit) if there are people around. There are tons of bad neighborhoods where people for lack of a better term. Honestly I feel like this is very inaccurate. Regardless, it shouldn't take constant moderation if we find out where the holes are and plug them, it might be constant vigilance for awhile while game starts up and updates alter it, but until there's a glass without a crack, we just keep adding tape til it's not leaking any more. If a person is killing everyone, well, he will end up imprisoned for awhile, as i heard, kidnapping was possible. We just need to find where the cracks are and fill them with cement. #Garrys mod rp server codeSo why don't our developers enable rules that state whatever for careers, if your a criminal for example, it would be part of your code of conduct to not kill civilians, as a policeman, it would be to take evidence to the station, ect. i have been on large gmod servers before and its bloody chaos unless theres constant moderation. i can see that manditory serious rp would not benifit official servers that would be THAT large in size (player number wise) as it can be quite daunting or even deter newer players, and a HUGE server would be quite dificalt to moderate. and i do think its worth experimenting with some sort of rule enforcing volenters. but a game like identity can still be great in its own right without super serious rp. I imagen that yes some ommunity servers will add rules ect to further promote rp. Private servers will share the same server browser space as official servers, and it is our hope that from doing this, people will not distinguish one from the other, in order to find a private community where they can roleplay comfortably within a ruleset that they agree with. So we must rely on private server communities to offer that greater level of control where strict rules can be applied. Now we can control immersion and user experience, but we can't control the population on official servers, which we predict will be too large a crowd to manage with such a small team, unless we hire GM staff, or volunteers who play the role of rule enforces (something we plan to experiment with). Identity aims to be a bit different, but of course now, we run into a different challenge. So, we opted instead for PVP and gang warfare, much like Wasteland, or King of the Hill, where players can simply jump in and go. When given the choice between a modded Altis Life community like A3L, and vanilla Altis Life community like Asylum, we simply can't compete with the server that can have real police cars, uniforms, cities, and interior spaces. We realized early on that we weren't going to be able to compete with modded servers who have a greater control of immersion. However, Asylum's Altis Life, which is what most people experience when they play Altis Life for the first time, is branded as 'Lite-RP' community where RP rules are not heavily enforced, but encouraged instead through gameplay mechanics. There are Altis Life servers in ArmA 3, such as ArmA 3 Life, .uk, and Critical Gaming that take roleplay very seriously, and have strict rules that they enforce, but also require a grueling application and interview process to enter. #Garrys mod rp server modsI've played a lot of RP mods in games like Garry's Mod, Half-Life 2 Mutliplayer, and ArmA 3. do you think that actual ropleplay would be better for theese sorts of games (and identity to) I know this kind of branches away from the way identity but still, lets descus. this was kind of sad for me and ruined the experiance slightley. if somebody was trying to mug them they had no reason to comply. The main problem i had with altis life was the utter lack of any sort of rp, they where soley relying on raw game mechanics to play out for them. what all theese rules do is essentially make it manditory to follow what a real life situation would play out like, and i personally belive thats just how rp games/gamemodes should go. other rules most servers enforce are things like gundealers must own a store, cops cant print money, no mugging while tons of people are around ect. I personally think that in a gamemode like dark rp, fear rp is how the game SHOULD be played. as an example, if somebody points a gun at you, you HAVE to obay there commands (as per the server rules) most of the time this is refered to as fear rp, so i will use that term here. If you've ever played some garry's mod dark rp, some servers will make some roleplay mechanics manditory.
